leon spinks

                                                             Don't forget them

When  I was in Las Vegas in April, I walked down the strip looking for something that will lift me off my feet but I didn't see anything I liked in Vegas until  I came across this amazing boxer.

Leon Spinks, who was the only one who defeated the great Muhammed Ali 34 years ago on february the 25th in 1978.

Leon Spinks, heavy weight champion
26 wins
17 losses
3 draws

Heavy weight gold medalist of the Montreal Olympics in 1976. He had become famous not only for his gap between his teeth but for his amazing win.

`Neon Leon` had it all, just like we think we do when we go to Las Vegas or return from the Olympics with a gold medal around the neck but for Leon Spinks, his luck ran out from being rich and famous to falling into deep serious misery. Living a very difficult life. Leon Spinks hit the buttom real hard, washing the floor at the YMCA in St-Louis Misouri.

You would have thought he had finish his life like a real star, a real athlete, who represented his country during the olympics, that he would have spend his life coaching the others and sharing his knowledge of the sports but no, this is not what happen to Leon Spinks, heavy weight champion gold medalist.

Isn't it a shame to loose such an expertise. Hoping to give him back his glory as a gold medalist boxer I am sharing this with you. I didn't see him  boxe in Vegas but I saw a great champion! I remember is awsome match tho. I was lucky that day in Vegas.

He would always be a great champion so  make sure the Olympic champions who are returning, those hard working athletes,  that, they are not forgotten.

Leon Spinks fighted for us for those who watch, for his country, for the Olympic fame.

It is even worst when an athlete comes back home and he didn't win or perform the way he was supposed to.  Let's make sure we support our Olympics heroe. A lot of them came back without anyone waiting for them at the airport and that is sad to see. It is already hard to come back empty handed. Leon Spinks has his medal to look at but the others have nothing to look up for, so make sure we give them all our support.

I didn't participate in the Olympics but I will always remember those who made me scream and shout during those games; they will always be our Olympic athletes; the one from 1976...2000....2012...
