Casablanca 2019
Part 1 of 4
Jour 1 on 3 days
Jour 1
Could not sleep at all
coming in from our long flight
too much traffic noise
Horrible!
For once I decide to stay in Casablanca !
Beware when you book your flight
make sure you are away from main roads.
I decided to stay put for 3 days in Casablanca for budget reason
very difficult not to go away trust me
so I got up and had breakfast at the pool:
cheese plate
Go figure can not get breakfast all day long
I went to get the essential
money
great wine:
terre rouge
volubilis
and stop by at the chocolate happy hour in the lobby before dinner
how bizarre
afterwards we all gather to go to the restaurant I wanted to go
Port de peche
of course could not get 3 taxi not 2 not even 1
got to book those taxi
so we walk
my feet was killing me i had a foot massage the other day in Shanghai so they were too fragile to walk all the way there
scrap my 3 days almost
got to carry Shania Twain magic vaseline does wonder for any problem
I went to this restaurant 3 times
and always had excellent fish
white wine
Medaillon Blanc excellent as well
St Pierre interesting fish to eat
Day 2
The next day we went to visit a synagogue
why not
i have no plan
a colleague of jewish origin heard how pretty it was
but forgot to plan the outing.
Didn't know how to get there or nothing
omg
yes omg
no taxi
yes a taxi but didnt know how to get there
no one knew how to get there
or didn't want us to go
spend all morning really
so we finally made it just in time for a celebration
another religion where women are split from men for praying for the same god
go figure
not my cup of tea
come on
we all come from one place
what's wrong about praying next to this one place:
next to the one who give birth
next to a woman
so us, girls
had to go to the upstair room while the guys had to wear a kippa on their head and assist the celebration.
there are 2 synagogues in Casablanca
this one was the smallest but the cutest
the other one
the bigger one
oh well
our colleague wanted to see it.
she need it to see the other one
we, crew, have long days to wonder around
so we went....
here again gps... directions....
well we spend all morning looking for synagogue
I went inside and I am very happy to see it and understand its not my religion.
forbidden picture or not here are a few exclusive pics
beside it I took great shots of these doors
The area is full of great spot for pictures
so we went to the other one of course
we have nothing plan to do....
Here, you can not use camera or cell phone if you are jewish
the windows are very pretty
so we went to the market as we were hungry
we grab a cab and hit the BBQ area of
habous
different pronounciation
please people
be respectful for the citizens of Casablanca you are not in Agadir or Marrakech here
put some pants on
and hide your ass
and always wear a scarf
so we waited for the rest of the group but they took another path
oh well we waited 40 minutes for them !
no respect!
selfish generation
At Bennis bakery now
beside great cookies and pastries
they have little finger pastilla to die for
Next time I'm packing my hotel fridge with
seafood
chicken or chicken pastilla
it was delicious but had only one and wanted to show to the rest of my group the BBQ place
on our way there in front of chez Bennis
the baker place was full of lamb getting ready to be cook
big time
here for the bakers
a lot of dishes where waiting to be cook
woa in winter they like big plates of food
spicy black olives
we stop by for olives and went to buy some merguez order some thin bread tomatoes and onions to go with that and mint tea perfect lunch
the singing ladies were not there this time sad they really bring the place up
what amaze me about this place is you really see what's in season
this time all the vendors had beautiful oranges and nuts
so colorful so great
Wonderful to see that an entire civilisation can go on following just the fruits of the seasons
with lamb and merguez
so lunch cost
for 3
58 dirhams
we also bought a kilo of coffee for 100 drh
so for a kilo 12 to 14 dirhams depends how good you are for dealing and chatting with the fellow vendor
behind me was my butcher stand
check the guy go by with tagine to serve around
these people not sure but they are lepresee not sure
the lady in the middle beween my 2 colleagues with the white scarf and the gloves
this is what I heard not sure tho
a kilo of nuts 50
mint tea is also prepare with the far right leaves I forgot the name they mix it with the mint
the pears to die for and when I said that to myself I realize I took a piece of pear out of his knife
was the pear wash or something
fuck
what have I done
so we continue to the witch market
and stop over to the spice market where I almost die thissummer
I needed to go there again to see it again
I have severe figue allergy
this little bag does magic to your skin
just like a chemical mask you buy at home
This is great for removing dead skin on your heels
this was disgusting but dont know what it is as the merchant was very busy here
oh my
oh my
oh I know it's for henne
it's a beauty stand
for skin
ah spice market
great pink garlic its the season
these are different right
to use for your spices
oh and this
for man only
metallic piece
is your viagra wonder for man
apparently you boil it and stand on top of the steam
now we all know what its for
iiii
woa I use to come here during the summer there was hardly anyone here maybe they were busy in the fields
at the marché central
up above wonderful art deco
here again saturday full pack of people
i was all alone when i came here woa
marché central busy on saturday
here I came to get some special spices for the soup
raz el hanout pour la préparation de Harira
et raz el hanout pour le poisson
fish tagine
and some special green harissa to put also in my hamburger
and lemon confit to do a chicken and olive tagine
from my friend the vendor
I took the c train to get there 8 dirhams to go 8 dirham to come back
We went to see the mosqué afterwards we wnt to see what the mall look like
I went there to take picture of it properly but when i am with someone I dont like it i rush rush rush hate it
Another flight attendant wanted to go to the mall so we took a taxi to go there
20 dirhams
nice mall nice place to walk
we wanted to have lunch but we were too early
Than we walk towards the city on the way there we stop at a little.
the mall fnac dior etc....
So cute we went to check it out
eye opening
tiny little houses
a terrace to sit down and admire the oceanic view and Casablanca mosqué
So after a little intrusion we walk away met some Gawa musicians and walk on the board walk
they are almost finishing it
its going to be beautiful
all along the side you can find little surfing school
we sat down to watch the beach
20 dirhams
hey why not
we walk some more all the way to this restaurant for a hot dog merguez french fries and fanta
48 dirhams
afterwards we took the c train all the way back to the hotel that is right in front of the restaurant
8 dirhams
we
well I
forgot to get off to switch c train
I only took it ounce so its all right
than we pass by this giant electric market
djerb beleb I will fix the name later and saw some oranges vendors so we stop byt to buy some
the poor man didn't know how to give me back my change
so
14 dirham but
give him 18
they are delicious juicy wonderful to bring back home
Today
we just receive 40cm of snow in Quebec
my days on the beach are over
